Pillbox
A pharmacy workplace sitcom. Pilot episode and series outline complete.
Pillbox is a workplace sitcom set in a retail pharmacy. The series captures the absurdity, humanity, and quiet heroism of pharmacy work - the insurance battles, the memorable patients, the corporate mandates, and the relationships forged behind the counter.
The Premise
Every pharmacy is its own small universe. The staff knows their regulars by name, medication, and life story. They fight insurance companies on behalf of patients who can't afford their medications. They fill 400 prescriptions a day with half the staff they need. And somehow, between the chaos and the corporate metrics, they take care of people.
Pillbox lives in that space - part comedy, part character study, part love letter to the people who keep pharmacies running.
What Exists
- Pilot Episode - full script complete, covering the first day of a new pharmacy manager inheriting a store that's held together by duct tape and the sheer will of its long-tenured technician
- Series Outline - full arc for a first season, with episode breakdowns covering insurance fraud investigations, corporate audits, flu shot quotas, and the annual holiday rush
The Voice
The humor in Pillbox comes from specificity. The jokes land because they're real - the hold music when calling insurance companies, the patient who brings in a crumpled prescription from 2019, the district manager who has never worked behind a counter but has opinions about workflow efficiency.
Written from direct experience behind the pharmacy counter.
